Tom and Melissa
A pleasant surprise was waiting for us as we arrived with Delegation 2008 on December 30th (2007). Tom and Melissa, two North American volunteers with Crispaz, are staying in Guillermo Ungo (El Sitio to be precise) for an extended period -- perhaps as much as 18 months. Melissa helps Arili (who prepares most of our meals) and works with AMUDESCO, the women's organization that maintains the health clinic and works with communities to reduce domestic violence. Tom teaches English in the local school. We had a great time getting to know them and swapping stories with them. We were even able to introduce them to Sister Peggy in Suchitoto! Tom and Melissa have a blog so we can keep up with their exploits.
